The Creekview High School Theatre Department is filled with many opportunities for students and parents to get involved. Many talents are used and discovered with just a little desire and devotion.
The department consists of five organizations: Academic courses, the Theatre Booster Club, production cast/crew, the Drama club, and the International Thespian Society chapter #7124. Students and parents, who are interested in the department, are encouraged to participate within their own interests. Some students and parents have participated between one to five organizations within a given year!
Academic courses include:
Theatre Arts and Fundamentals- This course is a prerequisite for other courses. The class develops and applies performance skills through basic vocal, physical, and emotional exercises. Students will learn: the basic theatre vocabulary, to work as an ensemble and Theatre History.
Students who are not interested in acting, will explore the basic principles of theatrical design and develop their public speaking skills.
Advanced Drama- The class develops and applies performance skills through vocal, physical, and emotional exercises. Students will learn: the advanced theatre vocabulary, to work as an ensemble, the production process and advanced acting styles. Continues with Advanced Drama 2 and 3.
Musical Theatre- The class develops and applies performance skills through vocal, physical, and emotional exercises. Students will learn: the advanced theatre vocabulary, to work as an ensemble, the production process and advanced acting styles. Continues with Musical theatre 2, 3, and 4
Technical Theatre- Introduces technical considerations of play production. Offers opportunities to apply skills in different technical Theatre areas. Heavy curriculum focus is scheduled for the following areas: set construction, costuming, design, lighting and sound. Continues with Tech Theatre 2, 3, and 4.
Creekview Theatre Booster Club
The Theatre Booster Club consists of parent involvement in order to support and promote the Theatre Education Program of Creekview High School.
Their responsibilities include: raising funds for the program, to provide a source of communication and data for parent support, to provide awards for the end of the year banquet and they are the logistical parental support for the department.
Production Cast/ Crew
School productions are created by students, parents and faculty. Students and parents are encouraged to participate in all roles of production such as: design, directing, management, backstage crew and cast. Keep a look out for auditions and other production opportunities.
Drama Club
The Drama Club is a social club open to all students at Creekview High school. The club meets after school on every second and forth Wednesday of the month. Each year, students pay yearly dues in order to join the club.The purpose of this club is to bring a group of people with a mutual interest of theatre together, develop skills of students wanting to purpose a theatrical career, play a ton of theatre games and to have fun! International Thespian Society #7124
The international thespain Society is an academic honors society in the high school theatre community across the world. The Creekview High School chapter number is 7124. The honors society meets every fourth Wednesday morning of the month at 7:45 in Drama Room. Currently, Creekview High School has thirty seven active inducted members including two Honors Thespians. Those who are currently Thespians have the opportunity to be part of own events and troupe competitions. Also, members attend the Thespian Convention in Columbus, Ga. in February (Thescon) and all Georgia high school troupes are invited.
Interested in joining the the Thespian Society? Future members must compile ten or more thespian points throughout their years in the Theatre Department. Yearly inductions are conducted in the spring of each school year.
